Who was Judas Iscariote?

March 31, 2010

Most people know Judas as the Saviour’s traitor, condemned in hell after taking his own life by hanging. Period.

Poor guy. But isn’t he just one of us humans? He made an exceptionally important role in Christianity. He was the one who made it all happen actually, without him, we would have never been saved. Don’t you think?

All the apostles are all saints, why is he not? I don’t know what’s the criteria for being one, but does the Catholic Church knew Judas and all the Saints personally to say who’s the good and the bad? I think only God can judge on any one of us. He’s the only one who will decide who goes to hell and who goes to heaven. And about Purgatory? well, seems politics to me. 🙂 I used to believe in all Catholic teaching but the more I know, the more I doubt. As for Judas, I bet he was a friend of Christ and probably Christ knew him more than any of us, and as for his condemnation, who are we to judge him? Only God can do that. What do we know about the truth? He might be in heaven with Jesus right now, smiling at us, forgiving us for being cruel to him.

Some may hate me for writing this, some I may open their minds to the facts. But the the truth is, I feel sorry for the poor guy being judged like that.

A theosophist friend once said to me: Look at Judas. He really suffered a lot in the past 2 millenia – judged as a traitor and evil. Look at Mary Magdalene. She also suffered a lot. She was portrayed as a prostitute which isnt true. You can see judgmental people by the way they look at Judas and Mary Magdalene.

Though the Gospel of Judas is really controversial, it made me rethink of Judas himself (aside from wanting to study it scholarly – balak karerin ang Coptic Greek at Dead Sea Scrolls).

Kasi parang istorya di ba? Ang laki nang naging risk ni Judas para lang ma-fulfill niya ang mission nya. Though it really sucks, it helped fulfill Christ’s mission here and became the Lamb of Salvation.

Medyo iba din kasi ang tingin ko dyan eh. Lalo na sa mga religion eklavu (tingin kaliwat kanan at baka mabato ni Bloop). I respect other people’s beliefs- que buddhist, islamic or what. Ang ayaw ko lang ang too much fanaticism sa mga religions that caused them to discriminate other people who are think differently.

hahaha. nisabi mo pa mate! iniisip ko rin yon pero i don’t think bloop visits here. 🙂 though we’ve got different views about christianity and religion, it’s ok. respetuhan na lang besides friendship isn’t based on religion diba? hahaha. dami kc mali sa catholism daming misleaded pero pag itinama mo kaw pa ang mali. Specially the aged, di mo na mababali ang faith pero kelangan bang ipagpatuloy ang maling paniwala why can we open the eyes of the young? Christmas for instance…pagan yan diba? i was misjudged and was given look of hatred when i said jesus was born in April. I do believe in Christmas, it has a christian value. the spirit of Christmas is good and i do follow the meaning of it. I do celebrate it.
